Tamil Nadu, April 10, 2020: Indumathi, a JRS Tamil Nadu staff, is an inspirational figure for the youth club members in the Sri Lankan Tamil refugee camps. In the wake of the pandemic COVID 19, she mobilized and trained the Perumalpuram Camp youth club members to raise awareness, foster protection, and mitigate risks related to COVID-19 through informative videos.

A fund was raised to sew and distribute face masks among the camp refugees, free of cost, through the involvement of JRS alumane of the skills training program. This inspired and motivated the nearby camps to generate awareness and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

JRS life-skill training teachers, Mano Shanthi and Swedha, volunteered to sew and distribute more than a thousand face masks among the refugees in the camps.

Indumathi attributes her awakened social conscience to the JRS capacity building workshops and trainings. She is now fully engaged in mobilizing youth and women to contribute to their community during these challenging times.
