Alphabet graduation ceremony at Sohadat School

On December 16th, the staff, students, Education Department official, parents, and the community came together to thank JRS for starting and building up Sohadat School over the past 10 years. Mr. Karimi, the headmaster, shared how JRS started Sohadat school and changed the educational scenario in the area. He thanked the Education department, community leaders and elders for their cooperation and contribution, and for supporting JRS.

"Besides the school and community, JRS also supported local female school graduates to do their higher education so as to better serve their people. JRS has transformed the community through education, and parents are now ready to support their children’s education, especially girls" says Ms. Khorshid, teacher

Mr. Mayar, JRS project director, congratulated the graduating students and thanked the staff, the Education Department, community elders and parents for their contribution and cooperation. He encouraged them to continue along the path of JRS so that the children could continue their studies and look forward to a brighter future. The Arbab of Sohadat thanked JRS for building the foundation of their community, which was in darkness like a dry desert.JRS changed our community into a bright garden, full of flowers. The parents now send their children to school, instead of sending them to work in the fields. We now have girls and boys in Herat university, and some even out of the country for higher studies. During these years, Sohadat School has become one the best schools in Zendajan district, and a model among schools in Herat Province. The reason for all these improvements and achievements in our community is JRS!

The Education Department official also thanked JRS profusely for its support over the years: We are not happy that JRS is leaving. We could not have run the school all these years without JRS support. But now, we will not let the school collapse, and appoint more teachers next year. The gathering concluded with the installation of a commemorative plaque and wall painting, in remembrance and gratitude for the JRS engagement in Sohadat Township.
